Book Sales

Book sales are held in the spring and fall, normally April/May and October. Volunteer opportunities involve helping to collect, sort, and organize books at our book sales. Our books are all donated and many of our members volunteer their time to “work” at the sales. All of our proceeds from book sales, along with members’ donations, benefit ESAL. If you can help for with the collections and/or the sales, please contact Bonnie Hindman at (717)-433-8055.

Fall Book Sale 2019 Results

It is with great pleasure that I am announcing that we had the best Fall Book Sale ever—$13,795.02 and it is also the second highest ever. The Friends board and volunteers put in a lot of sweat equity to be able to sort and organize the tremendous number of books that were donated—I must admit there were moments when we wondered if we would be able to finish the tasks—but we did!! Many customers thanked the volunteers and commented on how organized our sale is— and we just love hearing that!!!! If you would like to be part of the volunteers for the spring sale and get the satisfaction that you were part of job well done, call me at 717 433-8055. We love new (and current) volunteers. Bonnie Hindman, Ways & Means

Contributions to ESAL

We have given ESAL $139,225 over the past five years from our fundraising, which has allowed the library to purchase books, shelving, chairs, display fixtures, a Microform Reader, educational toys, book carts, and more. This amount included $50,000 for the renovation of the former computer lab space into a special room for children’s programming, now known as the Dr. Henry Greenawald Room.
