Public Services Assistant | Madeline L. Olewine Memorial Library

Summary

Do you have enjoy working with the public? The Library is seeking a person with exceptional customer service skills. One who is able to present a welcoming atmosphere and is committed to helping the patrons and members. The Public Services Assistant manages patron accounts through The Library’s online software; helps patrons to locate library materials, provides Reader’s Advisory services, and answers basic reference questions. The Public Services Assistant assists the patrons with basic computer use, including but not limited to signing on to computer, use of the mouse, keyboard, and personal storage devices. This also includes troubleshooting basic computer issues. The Public Services Assistant provides courteous assistance to the public by phone and in person, giving information about library programs and services.

Education

High school diploma or General Equivalency Development (GED). 


Experience

One year experience working with the public.


Required

Ability to lift 30 lbs. unassisted, to place materials on high and low shelves.  Ability to reach and bend to place books on shelves, kneeling and sitting on the floor during programs. Requires independent transportation for travel to libraries, programs, and outreach locations. Schedule

Part-time, 18 hours/week, working every other Saturday until 2:15pm. 

Library Manager - Northern Dauphin Library and Johnson Memorial Library

Summary

Do you enjoy working with the community? The Library Manager is the primary liaison between The Library and the community it serves. This position supports two locations providing staff direction to ensure as exceptional user experience, while promoting and interpreting programs, activities, and policies. In this leadership position, you will provide mentorship and motivation to staff and volunteers. The Library Manager position is instrumental in developing community partnerships.

Education

Bachelor’s degree required. Enrollment in an American Library Association accredited MLS degree OR MLS degree recognized by The Office of Commonwealth Libraries/PA Department of Education program. MLS or MLIS degree is preferred.


Experience

Two years’ supervisory experience required. Technology experience required. 


Required

Ability to provide excellent customer service and communication skills.

Requires independent transportation for travel to libraries, programs, and outreach locations; must be able to lift 25 lbs.


Schedule

Full-time, 37.5 hour/week position. Monday-Friday. 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with occasional evening and weekends as required. The schedule has a degree of flexibility but is subject to change to meet the needs of The Library.

Location is at Northern Dauphin Library and Johnson Memorial Library (683 Main St, Lykens & 799 E Center St, Millersburg).
 

Youth Services Specialist - STEM

Summary

Do you enjoy working with children? Would you enjoy working in a position that allows you to provide exceptional services of STEM programming? Does being a member of a committed team of Youth Services Specialists excite you?

As a Youth Services Specialist, you will deliver effective programs, provide organizational assistance to the youth team, and assist in developing library youth collections. Knowledge of STEM and keeping up with AR/VR technology will be an essential function to create and implement STEM programming and work with community partners to present programming.

Education

Associate degree in education; or minimum of 2 years of experience in childcare or education setting; BA/BS degree in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education or 4-year degree with certification in Elementary Education preferred.


Experience

Experience with children’s literature and planning and implementing youth programming preferred. Technology experience required.


Required

Requires independent transportation for travel to libraries, programs, and outreach locations, professional customer service and communication skills, ability to move library materials within and between locations, ability to retrieve and place books on shelves, sufficient mobility to perform programming for children.


Schedule

Full-time, 37.5 hour/week position, Monday – Friday, from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Occasional weekend or evening.

Programming and Outreach Administrator

Summary

This leadership position ensures that The Library has a positive impact on our community by developing and deploying a mission-critical Programming and Outreach Community Engagement strategy. This includes identifying and developing key relationships with our diverse community partners.

The Programming and Outreach Administrator works as the key liaison to local organizations, guiding the programming and outreach team in program development with a focus on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the areas of strategic focus identified in The Library’s strategic plan. This leadership position mentors and manages programming and outreach staff, providing expert advice and best practices to support their work. This position will be based out of the East Shore Area Library but is a system wide leadership position which will require travel within our eight library locations.

Demonstrated experience with community building practices, developing and fostering community relations. Direct experience with project management and program development.

Public Services Assistant | McCormick Riverfront Library, Part-time

Summary

16 hrs/wk | Dauphin County Library System is seeking ongoing learner for a part-time Public Services Assistant at 101 Walnut St. Harrisburg. The Public Services Assistant provides exceptional customer service in person, on the phone and email. The successful Public Services Assistant uses computer software for circulation of materials and offers basic reference service.
