Branch Librarian

Summary

Dauphin County Library System is seeking a full time branch librarian at McCormick Riverfront Library. The branch librarian oversees the library by managing the work of library staff and development and implementation of library services, procedures, and budgets.

Minimum Qualifications

  • American Library Association accredited MLS degree or MLS degree recognized by The Office of Commonwealth Libraries/ PA Department of Education
  • Two years supervisory or leadership experience
  • Customer service experience (public library setting preferred)
  • Technology skills required
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Requires independent transportation for travel to libraries, programs, and outreach locations

Rate of Pay

$37,459.50 annual yearly salary


Schedule

Full Time Position at McCormick Riverfront Library has a Monday through Friday schedule with evenings and weekends, as required.

Public Services Director

Summary

Dauphin County Library System (The Library) is seeking a multi-faceted Senior Management Public Services Director who reports to the Executive Director. The successful candidate leads the continuous reinvention and revitalization of the library collections, resources and programming provided within the eight library facilities and in our partner organizations to create an exceptional user experience. The Public Services Director identifies barriers of service within the library policy and procedure model and works with Senior Management Team and Board of Trustees to remove those barriers. Also, oversees the design, development and delivery of programs and activities, both in the libraries and out in the community, that support The Library’s mission and vision. Forging strong partnerships with other community organizations and evaluating and redesigning library spaces are responsibilities of this position. The Public Services Director evaluates services offered in each facility to continuously improve user interaction and individual work spaces, as well as, expands access to library resources through outreach activities and strategic partnerships. The successful candidate adapts initiatives as opportunities arise and provides energetic and engaged leadership to a staff, guiding them in meeting customer service goals.

  • ALA accredited MLS degree, required
  • Five years professional experience, including three years in a supervisory or administrative capacity, with a public library
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of library software required
  • Requires independent transportation for travel to libraries, programs, and outreach locations
  • Excellent customer service and communications skills
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted

Rate of Pay

$63,000 - $66,000 annual yearly salary


Schedule

Full Time exempt position is Monday through Friday 8:00 am-4:00 pm but may include night and weekend hours upon the need of The Library.

Public Services Assistants

Summary

Dauphin County Library System is seeking a full time and part time public services assistant at East Shore Area Library and a full time public services assistant at Madeline L. Olewine Memorial Library. The public services assistant performs customer services, uses computer software for circulation of materials, and offers basic reference service. Interacts courteously with the public in person and by telephone; opens or closes the building.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Training or experience with computer keyboarding and basic office software.
  • One year experience dealing with the public.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs. unassisted to place materials on high and low shelves.
  • Ability to reach and bend to place books on shelves, kneeling and sitting on the floor during tasks.

Rate of Pay

$9.55 per hour

Tuesdays 1:00 pm - 9:15 pm
Wednesdays 9:30 am - 5:30 pm
Thursdays 9:30 am - 5:30 pm
Saturdays 9:00 am - 5:15 pm

 

Week 3:
Sundays 9:00 am - 5:15 pm
Mondays 9:30 am - 5:30 pm
Tuesdays 1:00 pm - 9:15 pm
Wednesdays 9:30 am - 5:30 pm
Thursdays 9:30 am - 5:30 pm

 

Part Time Position at East Shore Area Library has the schedule of:

Mondays 4:00 pm-9:00 pm
Fridays 12:00 pm-5:00 pm
Saturdays 10:00 am-5:00 pm

 

Full Time Position at Madeline L. Olewine Memorial Library Library has the schedule of:

Week 1:
Mondays 12:30 pm - 8:15 pm
Tuesdays 9:30 am - 6:30 pm
Wednesdays 11:30 am - 7:15 pm
Thursdays 9:30 am - 6:15 pm
Fridays 11:15 am - 5:15 pm

 

Week 2:
Mondays 12:30 pm - 8:15 pm
Tuesdays 9:30 am - 6:30 pm
Wednesdays 10:30 am - 7:15 pm
